FGN – A Decade of Budgeting – 2010 to 2020 Appropriations Report

The Decade Appropriations Report is a visual representation of the Budget Estimates of the Federal Republic of Nigeria over a ten year period, though 2011 was skipped because the source data could not be scrapped. The report was created entirely from publicly available contents; see the INFO Page for the link. I extracted the contents using get data from pdf in Power BI Desktop, cleaned it in Power Query and sent the dataset. I created a new pbix file that I connected to the dataset in Excel thereby disconnecting it from the original file with all the extraction and transformation queries that could impact the performance of the Report if all is left in one place.

The features of the 7-page report worth mentioning include the use of bookmarking and overlays. The OVERVIEW page contains two overlaid pages that distinguish between the capital and Recurrent Expenditure of the estimates. Details regarding the principles and practice of budgeting in Nigeria are provided in the INFORMATION page, which comprises three sub-pages.
